This inquiry project was more complex than I anticipated. There were many more dynamics at play then just gathering information. I wanted to utilize my time to address a specific need in my district; assessment in my discipline.

The human dynamics were the most difficult. I thought that I might be able to motivate some colleagues to join me in this task but I found that many were unwilling to move out of their current comfort zone. I was able to "recruit" an elementary teacher in our district who I happen to coach basketball with and the bus rides gave us a chance to talk often. In our discussions, some of the follow up e-mails are included in the blog show the transformation from frustration to gradual implementation of some of the things that we found.

The strengths of the project are the materials that were collected and that are being used as templates for our teachers to produce their own assessments. The difficulties of the project was the limited resources and resistance to change.

If I had to do it over again, I would recruit people that were passionate and had a similar vision. Collaborative work is more productive.

Overall, the inquiry provided some invaluable resources and momentum to make the changes that were the desired outcome of the undertaking...in that respect, success!
